Enigma VS is a premium Swiss absinthe verte developed for LDF at the Matter-Luginbühl distillery. It is a fresh herbal absinthe with delicate flavours derived from a combination of herbs that includes sandalwood and mint. The emerald green colour is naturally produced by using mint in the colouring step.

Enigma VS is a premium distilled absinthe produced at the Matter-Luginbühl distillery in Switzerland from carefully selected plants including Artemisia absinthium, green anise, fennel, lemon grass, hyssop, sandalwood and mint. It is coloured naturally by soaking a mixture of plants in the distillate. The natural emerald green colour turns an opalescent milky white with the addition of water.

Flavours of wormwood, citrus and mint are to the fore with the anise contributing sweetness to the middle palate. The finish is long with wormwood and mint evident.

This cocktail is a staple at The Old Absinthe House in New Orleans - it's simple to make and ideal for a hot summer's day. It is also one of the finest 'morning after' remedies you will ever taste.

- 1½ ounces (40 ml) absinthe
- ½ ounce (15 ml) orgeat syrup
- 1 egg white
- ½ ounce (15 ml) single cream
- 4 ounces (120 g) shaved ice

Combine all ingredients in a blender, blend for 5 seconds and serve in a chilled cocktail glass.
